I have been working with individuals and couples in private practice in Portland since 1985. My work is collaborative, client-focused, and often life-changing.
Along with my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Vermont College, two pieces of my experience are particularly helpful to me in doing this work. First, I have had four years of excellent training with the Gestalt Institute of New England, Alan Robinson, Katherine Hearn, and Lee Geltman. Since the time of this training, I have of course branched off into my own style of working, but my work is built on this base. My work is also deeply informed by 25 years of meditation and Buddhist studies.
Personal qualities I bring to my work include courage and presence in helping clients face whatever is actually going on for them, an ease with people and a good sense of humor about life, and my own positive experience and assurance about working through the mysteries and tangles of life.
The things that make me really happy are doing the work I love; spending time with my family and friends, and my dog; and doing anything creative, including writing, painting, and cooking.
Working with me begins with a free introductory session, an opportunity for us to meet and learn whether we will be likely to be productive together. To arrange a first session, send me an email message or call me at 207-773-4413.
